Steenbok, common name for a small antelope found in open or thinly wooded and hilly places from the Cape of Good Hope to the Zambezi River in Africa. It stands 45 to 60 cm (18 to 24 in) tall at the shoulder, is long-necked, has short horns that curve forward slightly, and is very swift and active. The name is also applied to the European ibex.
Scientific classification: The steenbok belongs to the family Bovidae. It is classified as Raphiceros campestris.
