Torre del Greco

Torre del Greco, city, southern Italy, in Campania Region, at the base of Mount Vesuvius, near Naples. A resort on the Bay of Naples, it has been damaged by many volcanic eruptions, notably in 1631, 1737, and 1861. Fishing and coral carving are the primary occupations. Population (2007 estimate) 88,918.
