Ligurian Sea

Ligurian Sea, arm of the Mediterranean Sea, southern Europe, between the islands of Corsica and Elba and the Riviera coasts of northwestern Italy and Monaco. Genoa, La Spezia, and Livorno (Leghorn) are major ports on the Ligurian Sea, which is linked with the Tyrrhenian Sea, to the southeast. The Gulf of Genoa, along the Italian coast, is a northern section of the Ligurian Sea.
