Ulster, historic province of Ireland. It includes nine counties: Cavan, Donegal, and Monaghan, now in Ireland; and the former counties of Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry (Derry), and Tyrone, now constituting the whole of Northern Ireland, which is sometimes called Ulster. The part of Ulster included in Ireland forms a province of the same name. Area, 8011 sq km (3093 sq mi).
