Introduction

North-West Frontier Province, province of Pakistan, occupying the entire northwestern part of the country east and south of Afghanistan. The North-West Frontier Province was merged with the other provinces and states of West Pakistan in 1955 to form the single province of West Pakistan, but in 1970 that province was once more divided, this time into four provinces.
