In 1992 the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Atlanta Braves in six games to become the first Canadian team to win baseball’s World Series. Although the deciding game was played in Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, Blue Jays fans packed into Toronto’s SkyDome to witness the action together on a large television screen.

The Toronto Blue Jays became the first Canadian baseball team in history to win the World Series. They did it at 12:50 a.m. this morning in a nail-biting 4-3 overtime win over the Atlanta Braves in an 11-inning thriller.
It was David Winfield’s first-ever Series extra-base hit that brought Devon White and Robbie Alomar home.
“This was an emotional rollercoaster ride not meant for the weak of heart,” said Denise Smith, of Toronto, who caught the action here. “It was scarier than bungee jumping.”

And a group of Jays fans in far right field at Fulton County Stadium broke into a real emotional rendition of O Canada after the Jays won it.
“This triumph is a dream come true for Blue Jay players and fans alike and is the culmination of many years of planning and effort by the coaching staff and management,” Prime Minister Brian Mulroney said from Ottawa.
And 45,551 frenzied Blue Jay fans spilled out of packed SkyDome on to Yonge St. screaming about the glorious victory.
“I feel just great!” screamed Karen Faiman, a Toronto marketing analyst. “Finally, we won!”
