Venus of Lespugue

Venus of Lespugue
A number of small statues of female figures dating back to paleolithic times have been discovered in Europe. They suggest the possibility of goddess worship during the Stone Age. This statuette, known as the Venus of Lespugue, was found in southwestern France. Carved from the tusk of a mammoth, it is estimated to be 27,000 years old.
