During the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, the United Nations (UN) sent peacekeeping forces there to provide humanitarian aid and create safe areas for civilians. The UN forces endured attacks during the mission; this UN peacekeeper is running toward an armored vehicle during an attack on a UN base in Sarajevo.
