Nerve Cell

Nerve Cell
Nerve cells transmit information from one part of the body to another. Each nerve cell has branching dendrites to connect to other dendrites, and a long axon to transmit or collect impulses. A stroke, in which nerve cells in the brain die for lack of oxygen, can result in permanent disability for the patient because the pathways that transmit information in the brain are interrupted.
