Korean American Protest

Korean American Protest
A crowd of Korean Americans march through the streets of Koreatown, a Korean American neighborhood of Los Angeles, protesting the targeting of Korean businesses during the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The large banner carried by the protesters echoes the words of Rodney King, a black motorist who was beaten by Los Angeles police officers. The officers’ acquittal of charges of police brutality touched off widespread rioting in the summer of 1992. Although Korean Americans were not involved in the King incident, angry mobs of blacks and Hispanics vented their frustrations by looting or burning many Korean American-owned businesses in Los Angeles.
