Dolomite Alps, Italy
The Dolomites, in the Eastern Alps, are part of the South Tirolese Alps in northern Italy. The limestone mountains are noted for their spectacular pinnacles, which are often jagged and unusually colored. The area is a popular holiday destination for climbing and winter sport enthusiasts. The highest peak in the Dolomites is Mount Marmolada at 3,342 m (10,965 ft).
