| In August 1995 the new Navy Pier Center opened in Chicago. The center was built on a pier constructed during World War I (1914–1918) that juts into Lake Michigan. Navy Pier has amusement rides (such as the carousel seen here) as well as restaurants, shops, and boat rides. | ||||||
