The American Cemetery in Brittany, France

Many of the American casualties from World War I and World War II are buried in Europe. This expanse of grave markers in an American military cemetery in France is a strong, visual reminder of the costs of war. A cross marks the graves of soldiers of the Christian faith. Symbols of other religions, such as the Star of David for Jewish soldiers, are also used.
