Dead Sea

The Dead Sea, bounded on the west by Israel and the West Bank and on the east by Jordan, is not actually a sea but a very salty lake. The Dead Sea gets its name because its salt concentration is so high that few organisms can survive in it. High concentrations of salts and other substances also make the water unusually buoyant, allowing swimmers to float easily on the surface.
