Norman Mailer
American writer Norman Mailer’s works often explore subconscious impulses, violent acts, and his liberal political views. He won a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award for Armies of the Night (1968), which recounts his experiences as an antiwar protester. Mailer also won a Pulitzer Prize for his 1979 novel The Executioner’s Song, about convicted murderer Gary Gilmore.
