Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes
An influential figure in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s, American writer Langston Hughes wrote in several literary genres, including poetry, plays, short stories, and novels. He also became known for the character Simple, whom he created in a newspaper column. Hughes used tales of Simple to depict the everyday experiences of black citizens.
