Tranquil Tobago

Tranquil Tobago
Sheltered, palm-fringed beaches line the coast of the volcanic island of Tobago. The peaceful beauty of Pigeon Point Beach, on Tobago’s southwestern coast, belies the many tensions that have been part of this Caribbean island’s past. After Christopher Columbus claimed the island for Spain in 1498 Tobago changed hands several times over the next three centuries. Tobago and neighboring Trinidad became fully independent in 1962.
