Baruch Spinoza
Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza believed that everything in the universe behaved according to the laws of nature, or God, a view that would appear to rule out free will. Although only God is completely free, according to Spinoza, human beings can attain happiness and self-determination insofar as they understand and fit into nature.
