P’yŏngyang, North Korea
P’yŏngyang, the capital of North Korea, was completely rebuilt after the Korean War (1950-1953). Modern buildings and wide tree-lined avenues are found throughout the city. The pyramid-shaped Ryugyong Hotel, pictured here, is the city’s tallest building, with a height of 300 m (984 ft).
