Eleanor Roosevelt was an accomplished public speaker and gave regular radio broadcasts while first lady. A lifelong liberal, she frequently spoke out on controversial social issues, from civil rights for minorities to support for the poor. In the December 1937 radio broadcast excerpted here, Roosevelt talks about women’s great potential for success in leadership roles.
