Ona of Tierra del Fuego

Ona of Tierra del Fuego
The Ona, now extinct, once occupied Tierra del Fuego Island at the southern tip of South America. Expert archers, they subsisted primarily by hunting guanacos, tuco-tucos, and other wild animals. These Ona, photographed about 1900, wear guanaco-skin robes as protection from the cold, damp climate.
