Navajo Blanket
The Navajo people of the Southwest were accomplished weavers. Until the late 19th century, most of their weavings were blankets intended for wearing. They then turned to weaving rugs. This 19th-century chief's blanket incorporates the diamonds, triangles, and stripes typical of Navajo designs.
