Reserve Strength is the sum of: Selected Reserve, Individual Ready Reserve/Inactive National Guard, and Standby Reserve. Selected Reserve: reservists belonging to a Selected Reserve unit which is organized, equipped, and trained to perform a wartime mission. Individual Ready Reserve/Inactive National Guard: individuals who served recently in the active forces reserve and have some type of remaining service obligation. Standby Reserve: individuals designated as key Department of Defense civilian employees, or otherwise affiliated with the military without being in the Selected or Individual Ready Reserve.
