Pythagorean Theorem

The Pythagorean theorem states that in a right triangle the sum of the squares of the legs, a and b, is equal to the square of the hypotenuse, c. In other words, A + B = C, or a² + b² = c². The theorem is attributed to Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras, who lived in the 6th century bc.
