Camel Corps

Camel Corps
During World War I, the Camel Corps fought in Egypt and Mesopotamia. When the Ottoman Empire entered the war in 1914, Britain had to divert troops from the western front. Because much of the fighting between the British and the Ottoman Empire took place in what is now called the Middle East, camels were useful modes of transportation. They were able to withstand the heat and lack of water in the region.
