Jewish Immigrants

Jewish Immigrants
Even though Jewish immigration to Palestine was severely restricted, thousands of Holocaust survivors sought the new homeland after World War II ended in 1945 but before the state of Israel was proclaimed in 1948. This boatload of immigrants arrived in 1946. The banner in Hebrew atop their ship translates as “Keep the Gate Open.”
