Rolling Sand Dunes in Iraq

Rolling Sand Dunes in Iraq
Desert covers most of the southwestern and western regions of Iraq, where clusters of nomadic Bedouins continue to herd their sheep. The limestone hills and blowing sand of the Syrian Desert reach into Iraq from neighboring Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. This vast desert is cut by valleys called wadis. Dry most of the year, wadis are transformed into rivers after a much-needed rain.
