Mnajdra Temple of Malta
Prehistoric stones patterned in the shape of a cloverleaf distinguish the Mnajdra Temple from the adjacent temple complex of Hagar Qim, on the southwest coast of the main island of Malta. These megalithic structures were built approximately 6,000 years ago, and the enigma of their origin still remains: Why were such giant stone monuments constructed on a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea?
