| The sloth moves so slowly and deliberately that its name is synonymous with laziness. It spends most of its days alone, hanging upside down from tree branches, feasting on leaves. Algae that grow in its fur help camouflage it from predators such as birds of prey. If attacked, the sloth can inflict severe wounds with its long claws. The pale-throated three-toed sloth, Bradypus variegatus, with its black face and white band across the forehead, ranges from Honduras to Argentina. |
