Cuban People
In the West Indies, people are racially diverse, descended mainly from African slaves and European colonists. In this photograph, Cuban citizens attend the state funeral in Havana for Ernesto “Che” Guevara, who fought in the Cuban Revolution and died while leading a rebel group in Bolivia in 1967. Guevara’s remains were returned to Cuba for burial in 1997.
