The Okavango River forms a vast wetland where it drains into the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Wetlands are complex ecosystems that provide spawning and nursery gounds for saltwater and freshwater fish, essential habitat for migratory birds, and plants both exotic and commonplace. Additionally, wetlands play a crucial role in flood control, nutrient cycling, and water filtration.
