| Shown in its chestnut-brown summer fur, this Arctic weasel, Mustela erminea, searches for prey. The weasel often hunts for animals like mice, rats, birds, or rabbits for as long as four or five hours each day. During the winter months, weasels in the northern tundra regions of North America, Europe, and Asia exhibit a dramatic change in their fur coloration, from the usual chestnut-brown and white to snowy-white except for the black tip of the tail. |
