Bulgarian wedding music is a popular musical form among both young and old. The music, performed primarily by the Roma, is a distinct folk genre that has increased in popularity in the cities and villages due to the amplification of the instruments. Most wedding bands are made up of clarinet, saxophone, accordion, guitar, bass, and drums. Outstanding in the sound is the clarinet, which is played in a style that mimics the sound and form of a double-reed Turkish instrument called the zurna.
