Southeast Culture Area
Native Americans of the Southeast culture area were skilled farmers who settled in villages along river valleys. They cultivated maize, beans and squash, and frequently changed their fields and village sites when soils became depleted. Southeast peoples hunted, fished, and foraged wild plant foods to fill out their diet.
