Completed between 1450 and 1456, the Gutenberg Bible was the first book printed after Johannes Gutenberg’s invention of movable type. The combination of papermaking and movable type made it possible to produce a number of these Bibles. The increase in Bibles and other printed works made it possible for a greater number of Germans to read, leading to great changes in the early 16th century.
