English writer Sir Thomas Malory’s Le morte d’Arthur (1469-1470; The Death of Arthur) is a prose rendition of the King Arthur legends. Although Malory probably wrote the Arthurian saga as eight distinct romances, English printer William Caxton arranged Malory’s work into a single narrative in 1485. An actor recites this selection, which foretells the return of the fallen king.
