Creation of the FDIC
In 1933 United States senator and former secretary of the treasury Carter Glass of Virginia cosponsored a bill that created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Much of Glass’s political career centered around the administration of the Federal Reserve System.
