Kennedy and Khrushchev
United States president John F. Kennedy, left, and Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev met in Vienna, Austria, on June 3, 1961, but could not reach agreement on any issues. Kennedy’s last words to Khrushchev were, “It’s going to be a cold winter.”
