Terrorism at the Olympic Games

Terrorism at the Olympic Games
Armed German police tried unsuccessfully to rescue nine members of the Israeli Olympic team who were taken hostage at the 1972 Games in Munich, West Germany (now Germany). The confrontation ended with a shootout at a nearby airport in which the hostages, a West German police officer, and five guerrillas of the Black September Palestinian terrorist group were killed.
