With the publication of her first two books, The Beauty Myth (1991) and Fire With Fire (1993), American feminist writer Naomi Wolf became the youngest literary celebrity of the women’s movement in the early and mid-1990s. A frequent lecturer on college campuses, Wolf worked to make feminism relevant to a new generation. In Wolf’s view, the task facing women in the last decade of the 20th century was to capitalize on the political power that they possessed but had not yet learned to wield effectively.
