| The Burial of Count Orgaz was painted by the Spanish artist El Greco in 1586. Based on a 14th-century legend, it is an expressive work, full of religious fervor. The painting, which is 4.8 x 3.6 m (16 x 12 ft), is divided compositionally into two sections. The upper half, painted in a late Mannerist style, is more fantastic and distorted than the lower half, which is influenced by the work El Greco did in Venice. |
