Florentine sculptor Benvenuto Cellini’s saltcellar, commissioned by King Francis I of France, is an example of goldwork with enamel. It is 26 by 33.3 cm (10.25 by 13.1 in). The figures represent water and earth, according to Cellini’s Autobiography. The piece is now in the collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria.
