Coconut Palm
The coconut palm is common throughout the Pacific Islands. It grows to a height of nearly 30 m (100 ft). All parts of the coconut palm can be used: The fruit, the terminal bud (called palm cabbage), and young stems are all edible; the sap can be made into beverages; and dried coconut husk fibers and leaves can be transformed into a variety of household items.
