The Gross Clinic

The Gross Clinic
The Gross Clinic (1875) is considered Thomas Eakins’s masterpiece. The painting was rejected for an exhibition in Philadelphia to commemorate the centennial of American Independence because it was considered too harshly realistic. The size of the painting is 2.4 m x 1.9 m (8 ft x 6 ft 6 in).
