Battle of Antietam
The Battle of Antietam, depicted here, was fought at Antietam Creek in Maryland on September 17, 1862. The Union Army, led by General George B. McClellan, turned back the Confederate Army under General Robert E. Lee that was attempting to invade the North. The battle left 2,100 Union soldiers and 2,700 Confederate soldiers dead.
