The city of Galveston in southeast Texas was hit by a devastating hurricane in 1900. The movie company of American inventor Thomas Edison produced this film of the aftermath, focusing on the power plant that supplied electricity to the city. The film showed how well movies could record the devastation caused by a natural disaster.
