Catharine Parr Traill
Both Catharine Parr Traill and her sister Susanna Moodie wrote about their experiences as English immigrants in rural Canada in the 1830s. Traill’s book, The Backwoods of Canada (1836), written as a series of letters, details the customs and the natural history of her new country.
