Jackass Penguins on Boulders Beach, South Africa
Boulders Beach, South Africa, provides a sheltered nesting place for a colony of jackass penguins. The jackass penguin is named for the donkeylike sound it makes. Although the numbers of jackass penguins declined in the later half of the 20th century due to oil spills, the penguin colony at Boulders has increased in size in recent years.
