Amedeo Avogadro

Amedeo Avogadro
In 1811 Italian physicist and chemist Amedeo Avogadro formulated the hypothesis that equal volumes of gas, under identical conditions, contain an equal number of molecules. The hypothesis was proven in the 1850s and became known as Avogadro’s Law. Later in the 19th century, scientists using Avogadro’s Law calculated the exact number of molecules that exist in one gram of any substance. This number, which was found to be constant, is known as Avagadro’s Number.
