Right and Oblique Circular Cones

Right and Oblique Circular Cones
In a right circular cone (left) the axis is perpendicular to (forms a 90° angle with) the directrix. Rotating a right triangle around one of its shorter sides (making the side the axis) will produce a right circular cone. In an oblique circular cone (right) the axis does not form a 90° angle with the directrix.
